Welcome to quoteflections. Many of you know snippets about me after four years of contributions here.
I am a retired high school English teacher and literacy coach who often posted a quotation on the board for students to consider. With several probing questions about the quote, students were often able to formulate a greater understanding of themselves and the world around them.
I suppose this practice was one reason why I pursued a focus on quotations for this blog. Quotes can enrich, inspire, and expand our thinking.
Since I retired two years ago, this blog has partially filled the vacuum left with my retirement. The inquiry, research, and writing have kept me quite engaged for several hours a day.
I have a Master's in history with a focus in western intellectual thought after studying history, English, and the humanities as an undergrad.
One interest of mine here is to create a general arc of appreciation which promotes commonality and discourages exclusivity. For example, Rudyard Kipling wrote a ballad 'Oh, East is East and West is West, and never the twain shall meet...'
Wouldn't it be nice if we could agree on a code of ethics which captures our common aspirations and desires. How wonderful when we are open to divergent perspectives.
Thanks for following quoteflections. You are welcome to read my manifesto.
